Kathmandu: During the recent Central Working Committee meeting, Ajay Babu Shiwakoti, a central member of the Nepali Congress, emphasized the need for the party to clarify its stance on the matter of fake Bhutanese refugees. He expressed concern that the party's indecisiveness has led to confusion among the public. Additionally, Shiwakoti addressed the issue of senior central member Balkrishna Khand, who was sent to jail for preliminary investigation.

Shiwakoti raised questions about the party's response to Khand's situation. He pointed out that the party must take a clear position on whether they believe Khand is innocent or guilty. Depending on their assessment, appropriate actions should be taken. If Khand was wrongfully accused, Shiwakoti suggested that the Congress should have withdrawn support from the government responsible for his incarceration. Conversely, if Khand was involved in wrongdoing, the party should not shield him merely due to personal connections.

The central member stressed the importance of holding individuals accountable for corruption or any other misconduct. He urged the Central Working Committee to make a definitive decision during the meeting. Whether it involves taking action against Khand or supporting his plea for justice, Shiwakoti emphasized the need to avoid creating public confusion with ambiguous statements. He used an analogy to illustrate the point that the party's credibility as a champion of good governance should not be compromised by avoiding accountability.

Shiwakoti also expressed his disappointment with Chairman Deuba's handling of the reports presented by leaders who contributed to the party's transformation campaign. He urged the leadership not to forget the struggles they had faced in the past.

In conclusion, Ajay Babu Shivkoti's remarks in the Central Working Committee meeting highlight the need for the Nepali Congress to address the issue of fake Bhutanese refugees and take a clear stance on the situation surrounding Balkrishna Khan. By promoting transparency and accountability, the party can maintain its reputation as a defender of good governance and the rule of law.
